The USEF Foundation offers a freely downloadable reference implementation of the framework specification which demonstrates its design feasibility. The implementation itself provides a starting point for third parties aiming to commercially exploit all or part of the framework, whether to deliver bespoke products, services or projects that can be easily integrated, and communicate, with the future smart energy system.

The reference implementation is also used to test the framework as it develops, according to feedback from the USEF community.
