European smart energy standard
Collaborating towards a European smart energy standard.
There is an inherent and increasingly urgent need for a common standard in smart energy. To help work towards this, we have revisited our approach as an organisation in order to ensure that it is best suited to supporting the achievement of this shared goal. A summary of what we do and why:
The essence of USEF
- (Decentral) flexibility needs to be activated in a market based manner
- USEF facilitates one integral system rather than one party
- USEF describes flexibility market roles with the aggregator positioned centrally
- USEF guarantees freedom of choice participation in a flex market
- USEF is non-political
Our activities
- Provision of ongoing cooperation, support and dialogue with stakeholders: governments, partners, users
- Delivery of supporting evidence regarding all elements of USEF in practice
- Initiation of, and participation in, working groups for EU flex markets
- Provision of advice for parties wishing to adopt or implement USEF
- Incorporate improvements to the Reference Implementation based on relevant feedback from active projects, working groups and partner organisations
